Elderly man falls victim to distraction theft in Telford

Police are investigating following a distraction theft at a cash machine in Telford last week.

The incident happened at about 3.30pm on Thursday 12 May, when an 80-year-old man was was withdrawing money outside Lloyds Bank in Wrekin Drive, Donnington.

A woman to his left distracted him by waving two £10 notes and a piece of paper in front of his face and asked him for change. She then turned away and left the area with a man.

The victim then realised that his bank card was missing. He cancelled the card, but it had already been used to withdraw £220 from a cash machine in Newport.

The female suspect is described as white aged between 25-30 years old, and of a slim build with short, brunette hair.

The male suspect is white, 25-30 years old, and of slim build with short black hair.

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about it which would help with their enquiries.
