A joint venture between two major Shropshire organisations is being staged to promote neighbourhood planning amongst rural communities.

Shropshire Rural Communities Charity (RCC) and Shropshire Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) are teaming up to organise the Neighbourhood Plan Roadshow at Bridgnorth between 10am and 3.00pm on Tuesday 22nd March.

The free-to-attend event will be held in The Castle Hall, in Bridgnorth and is primarily aimed at Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, but interested parties from Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire are also welcome.

Shropshire RCC Chief Executive, Julia Baron, said: “This event is one of ten similar events taking part across the UK and has been commissioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government. It is designed to inform, advise and inspire communities to look at neighbourhood planning and to consider achieving ‘designated status’ for their own neighbourhood area.

“The event will provide the latest information from government and will look at barriers to progressing neighbourhood plans as well as outlining what support is available to help overcome these barriers, especially in areas which have had low levels of uptake or where progress has been relatively slow.

“There will be advice and support on offer from public, private and voluntary organisations working in this field together with case studies from community groups who have successfully undertaken a neighbourhood plan.”

Anybody wishing to attend can obtain further information or book a place online.
