The RSPCA is appealing for information after a 10-week-old emaciated kitten was abandoned in a box on a rural road in Shropshire.

The black, male kitten was found by a member of the public on Friday 4th December on a hairpin bend in Ironbridge Road in Jackfield.

He is now in the care of the RSPCA and has been named Jack, after where he was found.

RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer Elaine Williams said: “Jack was sadly not in a great condition when he was found, he was very skinny, was dehydrated, had diarrhea and was full of worms, but thankfully he is on the mend now and is being given a lot of love and attention by staff at the RSPCA’s Gonsal Farm Animal Centre.

“It is terrible to think that somebody abandoned such a small, defenceless and vulnerable kitten in this location as there is a chance he could never have been found. Because he was found in a box, it is obvious that someone put him there on purpose. He is a tiny little kitten and was very vulnerable.

“If anyone knows anything about how Jack came to be in this situation, we urge you to call us in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018.”

Jack will be in the RSPCA’s care until he is old enough to be rehomed.
