People are being given the opportunity to go “through the keyhole” of a bespoke house in Oswestry which is being opened to the public for one day only.

The house in Cherry Tree Drive has been designed and built by Oswestry-based Ke-design and DG Pallatina builders, who said they wanted to give people the opportunity to view the finished article after getting so many requests while the house was being constructed.

Craig Marston, of Ke-design, said the modern look of the house had prompted lots of comments so they were expecting a good turnout at the open day on Saturday May 9.

He said “Ke-design were approached by the owner of DG Pallatina builders, as he has an interest in good design, to design something a little different on this small plot and we relished the challenge.

“Its appearance may seem a little difference to some, but it’s a modern twist on the surrounding dwellings.

“The open plan ground floor not only maximises the space but it represents the current trend for communal living that people are wanting rather than small separate rooms.

“We have orientated the windows and room layout to maximise the natural light and solar gain.”

Dave Pallatina, of DG Pallatina builders, added: “While it was being constructed we received lots of complimentary comments from people saying how different it looked, so we thought it would be nice to throw open the doors for people to have a look inside and we will be on hand to talk to people about the design and construction of the house.”

The open day will take place from 10pm to 4pm on Saturday May 9 and people are welcome to just turn up without any need to book an appointment.

“The house will be available for viewing through the estate agents, but this is a great opportunity for people who have watched the house take shape to go through the keyhole and see it in all its glory – it’s definitely worth a look,” Dave added.

Ke-design celebrates its fourth anniversary this year, but Craig said this project was the first new-build home they had designed to be built in Oswestry itself.

He said: “We have had a fantastic first four years and have been particularly busy designing extensions and remodelling houses, with people choosing to change their existing home rather than moving.

“The success of TV programmes like Sarah Beeney’s Double Your House For Half The Money has inspired people to make the most of their existing house, which is great.

“However, with the housing market picking up again, we are now seeing people wanting something different and this project in Cherry Tree Drive certainly shows what can be done with some imagination.

“I would encourage people to come along on May 9 and see for themselves.”
