Holy Trinity CE Primary enters into academy consultation

The school which is currently under the control of the Interim Executive Board (IEB) and Headteacher Pam Edwards, will now enter into a stakeholder consultation period running from Monday 1 September to Friday 26 September.

The IEB and Shropshire Council approached The Marches Multi-Academy Trust, requesting their agreement to sponsor Holy Trinity CE Primary School’s application to become an Academy. The application has now been approved and the school will enter into a stakeholder consultation, to ascertain their views on the proposed conversion, including joining The Marches Academy Trust, as a sponsored academy.

Pam Edwards, Headteacher at Holy Trinity CE Primary School, commented: “We are looking forward to exploring and developing the benefits of the two schools working together.”

Mrs Sarah Longville, Executive Headteacher of The Marches Academy Trust, commented: “We place young people at the centre of all that we do and feel strongly that academies should enhance the educational provision of an area. We are excited by the benefits more formalised collaborative working could bring and the prospect of greater opportunities for the young people of Oswestry”.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“We are delighted that Holy Trinity CE Primary School is now out of Special Measures. Council officers have been working with the Interim Executive Board and senior leaders of the school to take the school forward and focus on key priorities. We are confident that Holy Trinity is fully committed to building on the very rapid progress that has already been made under the leadership of the new headteacher and the board, and that the school will go from strength to strength within the Marches Trust. We wish them every success for the future.”

As the lead school in the Trust, The Marches School will be supporting Holy Trinity CE Primary School.

Consultation Meetings will be held on 17 September at the following times:
– 6.00pm – Parents/Carers
– 7.00pm – All stakeholders / interested parties welcome

A separate meeting will also be held for staff.
