Strong winds yesterday evening and overnight caused a number of incidents across Shropshire, tree surgeons faced a busy morning moving fallen trees.
A fallen tree closed the A528 Shrewsbury Road at Preston Gubbals. Motorists using the A464 Holyhead Road in Albrighton at the Cross Road junction, were able to pass a fallen tree, whilst motorists using the A41 in Whitchurch faced a diversion as a fallen tree blocked the road.
Elsewhere downed trees caused problems for motorists using the B4387 Horsebridge Road in Minsterley, the B5067 Berwick Road in Shrewsbury and Nobold Lane in Shrewsbury.
In Ironbridge a road remains closed today after a hole appeared in the carriageway. The B4373 Ironbridge Road is closed to through traffic around 200 metres from the junction with Calcutts Road.
Telford & Wrekin Council says access will be maintained for residents and the footpath on Ironbridge Road remains open. A diversion for traffic has been set up via Calcutts Road and the road closure will remain in place until further notice.
