Burglars flee north Shropshire post office after being disturbed

The occupants of Loppington post office were awoken by a noise shortly after 5am today. They spotted a man outside, possibly standing guard, and then another man who ran out of the premises

They got into a car left on the adjacent Dicken Arms pub car park and drove off towards Wem. A small amount of cash was stolen from the post office and about £300 damage caused.

Entry was gained by forcing a door and an untidy search made of the post office area.

He said the two men were dressed in dark hoodies and jeans and a third man may have been in the car acting as the driver.

“We believe the getaway vehicle was a silver or grey Ford Focus and the actually burglary took place between 5.15am and 5.25am. Our investigations are continuing including liaising with neighbouring police forces.”

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
