Vehicles clamped following police and DVLA operation in Telford

A joint operation was carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday this week following concerns raised about the number of vehicles on the road without tax.

Police officers and officers from the DVLA, along with the DVLA ANPR vehicle, visited a number of areas, including Madeley, Woodside, Sutton Hill, Trench, Wellington and Wrekin Retail Park, to check that drivers’ road tax was in order.

During the two day operation a total of 14 vehicles were clamped for expired vehicle licence.

Police Constable Mick Evans, who was involved in the operation, said: “We had a few problems in the Madeley area with drivers not having road tax. I spoke to the DVLA and they said they would be coming to the area anyway so a joint operation was planned.

“As a result of the operation a total of 14 vehicles were clamped for not having road tax. It sends out a clear message to vehicle owners that they must ensure that their vehicle is taxed. If it isn’t on the road then the vehicle owner must contact the DVLA and they will send out the relevant paperwork.

“Further similar operations are planned so it is important that drivers ensure they have the correct documents for their vehicles.”
