Police issue renewed appeal to Shifnal burglary

The vehicle, possibly an older-shape Ford or similar, was seen parked up near the garages on Balfour Road for about 30 minutes sometime between about 9am and midday on 19th April – the same time a house in the street was broken into.

It had a distinctive black roof and ‘spotlights’ on the front and appeared to have been registered in either the 1980s or 1990s.

Detective Constable Jason Whelan, who is investigating the burglary, said enquiries so far had established a white male wearing a hooded top was also seen walking to and from the vehicle at the time.

“The car had two people inside, a driver and front seat passenger, and remained parked parallel to the garages for about 30 minutes the morning of the burglary,” he said.

“The man seen approaching the vehicle was carrying a cloth bag and was wearing a navy blue hooded top with the hood up.
“After he walked away, the car drove off onto Balfour Road itself before heading towards Admiral’s Way.”

Among the items stolen in the burglary were a Nintendo Wii games console, a set of binoculars and a satellite navigation system.

Anyone who might have witnessed the persons or the vehicle in the area at the time or knows of anyone who has such a car is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.

Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where a reward is sometimes offered.
