National Cold War Exhibition Re-Opens

The National Cold War Exhibition at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, re-opened today after a two week temporary closure.

The exhibition was forced to close when a fault with some of the lighting supports in the building was identified during a routine maintenance inspection.

Alex Medhurst, General Manager says:

“We were concerned the closure of the National Cold War Exhibition would deter some visitors, however this was not the case. During Half Term week we had over 700 children participate in the activities and the Spitfix event broke the world record for the most number of model Spitfires made in just one day.

The public have been very supportive and understanding and have still been able to enjoy the museum’s three other hangars throughout the temporary closure.  We are delighted to be opening this award winning building two weeks earlier than anticipated.

A major feature of this unique exhibition is Britain’s three V-bombers: Vulcan, Victor and Valiant with a number of aircraft suspended in flying attitudes.  Hotspots and interactive kiosks tell the story of the Cold War in a fun and innovative way.

The Museum is open daily from 10am - 6pm (last admission 5pm).  For more information on the Museum please call 01902 376200 or visit www.rafmuseum.org
