A Telford business owner has raised over £2,500 for the Georgia Williams Trust after pledging to walk up The Wrekin for 25 consecutive days.
Julie Kaur Duhra, who owns Jules Convenience store on Haybridge Road in Hadley, set the challenge in memory of Georgia who would have turned 25 years old this month. She invited people to join her each day provided they donated £25 to the charity.
The Georgia Williams Trust was set up in 2013 in memory of the 17-year-old Wellington student as a legacy to the teenager. It provides opportunities for young people in Telford and Wrekin to participate in life-building activities and encourages them to challenge themselves to try something new and broaden their horizons.
Julie Kaur Duhra said: “Georgia was a dear friend of the family who was fun, outgoing, kind and who lit up the room wherever she went. I wanted to do something to honour her memory and also raise money for the Trust. Although it’s been challenging, it’s also been a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and family, and of course, get fit, whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.”
“I was lucky enough to be joined by Georgia’s mum, Lynette and sister, Scarlett on the final trip which was a lovely way to celebrate the end of the challenge. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support.”
Julie’s next fundraising initiative will be raising money for Children with Cancer.
