Wellington Orbit, which is due to open at the end of April, is offering the local community the opportunity to help with the cost of their cinema seating.
Chief Officer Sophie Eades said, “The luxury seating has been ordered and installation will be taking place during April.”
The quirky idea that the Wellington Orbit team has devised is that each seat will be offered out for sponsorship.
Sophie continued “We have 63 seats in our cinema, and what we are asking is for individuals, organisations and businesses to sponsor a seat, or two, or even five! Each seat will then have its own engraved plaque which will show a limited amount of text, subject to certain terms and conditions.”
Seat sponsorship costs £100 per seat and will be visible for 5 years.
The cinema seating has been specifically ordered to ensure optimum comfort for cinema-goers to Wellington Orbit and by sponsoring a seat, individuals and organisations can use this as a significant memorial to include a personal message. Local businesses can use the sponsorship to demonstrate community support.
Financial Director, Ray Hughes said: “The financial input from the community and Telford and Wrekin Council has been tremendous, we are so appreciative of those who have donated money, bought shares and signed up for the SITR tax relief. This programme will add to our existing funds.”
