The Captains of Bridgnorth Golf Club usually nominate a charity at the start of their captaincy years and hold various events throughout the year to raise money for their nominated charity.

The 2017 Ladies Captain, Val Collins, said that “having friends who have suffered strokes, I realized that both themselves and their carers needed a place to meet others in the same position. Bridgnorth & District Stroke Club provide this facility and it’s good for a local club to help a local facility that relies on local funding.”

The Secretary of Bridgnorth & District Stroke Club, Gaynor Tudor, came along to Bridgnorth Golf Club to receive a cheque for £1,726.48, which had been raised by charity golf games, raffles and a huge help from one of our members who is a wizard jam maker!

After the presentation Gaynor thanked Val and all the members of Bridgnorth Golf Club who had helped to raise this very generous donation and went on to explain that the association is in its 21st year and has progressed a lot from their humble beginning and due to support from individuals, local groups and organisations, they are now able to offer support to stroke victims and their families.

Bridgnorth & District Stroke Club hold a monthly meeting where speakers and demonstrations are arranged. They also hire a coach with a lift to take members and helpers on day trips and short holidays.
