See Sunnycroft, an Edwardian Villa, in Wellington, in a different light on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 November, when it will be open after hours in the evening from 4.30pm to 7pm.

It is a rare opportunity to visit after dark and see what it was like to live and entertain in the Edwardian era. You’ll meet characters in period dress who will reveal the stories and secrets of the past.

Sunnycroft is hidden down a driveway of Wellingtonia trees, where your visit will begin by following the candle lit drive to the entrance porch of this typical gentleman’s villa. Once inside you’ll be transported back in time to 1910, whilst visiting the beautiful and atmospheric Billiard Room, Dining Room and many more. The Smoking Room is now a quaint tearoom that will be serving light refreshments and drinks throughout the evening.

Megan Cullinan, Assistant Visitor Operations Manager explains “Sunnycroft at Night is a special and rare opportunity to visit when the house is at its most atmospheric. Whilst standing by the fire in the Staircase Hall you can imagine how it was to live at Sunnycroft as an aspiring middle-class family. It feels and looks so different after dark and is well worth a visit.”

Sunnycroft is one of Shropshire’s National Trust gems, tucked away from the bustle of Holyhead Road in suburban Wellington. It encapsulates a way of life that was at the heart of British Society at the height of the Empire. At one time there were tens and thousands of similar properties and now almost all have been demolished or converted. Sunnycroft remains largely intact and is full of original features and much of its original contents which will transport you back in time. Come face to face with owners of this bygone era and take this rare opportunity to enjoy Sunnycroft in this special light.

Normal admission charges apply (National Trust members and under 5s free).
