First-time author Edward Hancox, was inspired to write Iceland, Defrosted after falling in love with the country on his first visit more than 9 years ago. Several more visits and 80,000 words later, the book was published earlier this year by Silverwood Books of Bristol.

Edward says ‘I’m so pleased to be working with Bec. She makes great coffee, and seeing as there is a huge coffee culture in Iceland, and most of the book was written in coffee shops in Reykjavik, it’s nice that its being sold at Bec’s Coffee. Icelanders realise that there is nothing better than a cup of coffee and a good book on a winters day.’

Bec says “I’m very proud to stock Ed’s book. Iceland Defrosted is a captivating read full of information and personal experience and is exquisitely written. I’m looking forward to working with Ed and will have no problem recommending this fantastic book.”

Edward describes his book as “far from the average tourist guide, which is less about wars over codfish, flight-halting volcanoes or globe-shattering financiers and more about relaxing in natural hotspots, sharing barbecues in howling winter storms and eating waffles and rhubarb jam while watching playful arctic foxes”.

It also documents his desperate search for the elusive Northern Lights and features interviews with Icelandic musicians and even a Michelin-starred chef.

Iceland, Defrosted has received acclaim from National Geographic Traveller magazine, Wanderlust Magazine and Iceland Review.

Iceland Defrosted is available from Bec’s Coffee at £8.99 for a paperback copy.
