The cake give-away, to children as old as the festival itself, is being held to celebrate the annual event’s 10th anniversary. The treats are being cooked up by Liz Pyman of the Market Hall’s Mamapie’s Bake shop.

Throughout this weekend cartoonists from all over the world are being set loose around Shrewsbury to get members of the public involved in cartoon capers. These range from free caricatures and exhibitions to cartoon workshops and clinics where people can get advice on their own cartoons.

Shrewsbury Market Hall, in Claremont Street, will host events on Sunday including free caricatures, cartoon displays and a cartoon clinic. An exhibition of the work of international cartoonists, the largest event of its kind outside London, is also being staged at the Visual Arts Network Gallery, in the Market Hall, until May 4.
