Ludlow author writes her way across Shropshire and the Welsh borders

Ludlow author Carole Anne Carr says she is delighted to have the chance to meet her young readers as she kicks off a book-signing tour to promote her new book, Thin Time as she ‘writes her way around the county’.

Carole, who will start her tour at the Tower House Gallery in Knighton on Sunday, said: “I thoroughly enjoy being able to go out and meet young readers across the county.

“The aim of my books is to give the children a fantastic action-packed adventure which includes a taste of history along with a great story which will keep them on the edge of their seats until the very final page.”

Thin Time is Carole’s fourth book. Her other successful publications include First Wolf, Little Boy Good-for-Nothing and the Shongololo, and Candle Dark.

Thin Time takes place in Tong and follows the magical adventures of Alice, a young girl chosen by mistake to be Task Bearer, and sent on a mission to prevent the world from dying.

With a 400-year- old dog as a mentor she meets many weird and wonderful characters along the way. Alice must face the fearsome snake-dragon, armed only with a stone and a gargoyle’s shield and return before midnight or be trapped in the Other World forever.

Carole’s inspiration came from her time as a primary school teacher and her many field-study trips. She found it difficult to find good educational books for her pupils which offered them a fun way to learn about history.

Carole will start her tour in Knighton from 11am until 1pm. From there she will attend the Tenbury Wells Countryside Show on August 6.

Carole’s next stop will be at the Book Nook in Newport, on August 12 and 13 from 11am until 1pm.

She will also be signing books at the Castle Bookshop in Ludlow on August 20 from 11 am to 1pm, the Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield, Telford on August 28 and 29 from 1pm until 2pm and the ‘Made in Shropshire’ Craft Fair in Ludlow on September 3.

Carole’s final stop will be at the Ironbridge Gorge 25 Years Celebration Week at the Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield on September 25.
