Grab your sleeping bags ready for a night at the Museum! Youngsters are being offered the exciting opportunity to set up camp at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, where they will sleep amongst the planes, tanks and missiles.
The first of three ‘Pillows and Pilots’ sleepover dates took place at the weekend with 200 children and group leaders enjoying exclusive
Two additional sleepovers are planned for 13 April (girl groups) and 11 May (mixed groups) and any groups interested in bringing along their members to enjoy this unique, once in a lifetime experience are advised to book soon to avoid disappointment.
Suitable for youth groups aged 7-15 years, not only will groups have the chance to explore the National Cold War Exhibition, they will also have an evening full of activities and of course no sleepover would be complete without a late-night movie!
Exclusively for the ‘Pillows and Pilots’ sleepovers, youngsters will take part in a range of activities including the robot war challenge using tablets to navigate their ‘bot’ around the course in the fastest time. Compete against your fellow peers launching K’Nex rocket cars across the hangar floor with prizes up for grabs, then head over to the Vulcan and drop parachutes off the balcony, aiming for the target below. For those who want to get creative, why not have a go at designing your own sleeping mask to use on the night and decorate a canvas bag to keep all your sleepover goodies safe. Capture the fun in a team photo by dressing up, selecting your props and posing for a picture, the perfect memento of the evening.
Following the evening’s activities, attendees will take-off to the auditorium where organisers have lined up the perfect themed film to enjoy with popcorn before settling down for the night nestled amongst the aircraft. Everyone will be provided with a ‘Pillows and Pilots’ colouring and activity pack, so there won’t be time to get restless during the night if you’re wide awake and everyone else is sleeping!
A continental breakfast will be served the following morning and youngsters will have early bird access to the Museum Shop and Test Flight hangar including the Fun ‘n’ Flight interactive area, with a 50% discount voucher for a ride on the 4D Experience. As a special treat in the morning there will be access on board the McDonnell Douglas Phantom FG1 front cockpit.
