Members of The Rock Project will perform at Shrewsbury’s Winter Fest in The Quarry Park on Saturday December 10 and Sunday 11.

It will be the first time that Shrewsbury’s very own school of rock has performed at the event, which attracts more than 170 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors to the town annually.

The Rock Project Shrewsbury organiser Lisa Wordley said: “We’re delighted to be part of this event and members of both the senior and junior sessions are very excited at the opportunity to show off their musical skills.

“As well as performing, we will also be asking visitors to the Children’s Tent to have a go at a rock tune themselves and try out playing the guitar or drums.”

The Rock Project Shrewsbury, which opened earlier this year, meets weekly in St Barnabas Centre. The school has professional, working musicians tutor young people aged 7 to 18 in drums, bass, guitar and vocals.

Tutors from The Rock Project will also hold taster sessions at St Giles CE Primary School this month. The school, in Portland St, Shrewsbury, is holding a winter fete on Friday November 25 and The Rock Project will be there to offer students taster sessions on guitar, drums and bass.

Meanwhile, The Rock Project Encore, a group for those aged 18 or over will perform a pre-Christmas gig in the Hole in the Wall in Shrewsbury town centre on Friday, December 9.
