A Shrewsbury music venue has a special Valentines Day gig lined up for next month.

Henry Tudor House, situated off Wyle Cop, is looking forward to welcoming two talented singer songwriters from the US on February 14.

Ernie Halter and his friend Tony Lucca are performing only three concerts in the UK and two in America this spring and have chosen Shrewsbury due to a special connection with the town.

“One of our managers Sam Jenkins is a keen fan and tweeted Ernie last year inviting him to perform at Henry Tudor House. Considering Ernie has half a million followers we were amazed that he responded and even more delighted when he arranged to take to the stage here,” explained proprietor Graham Jenkins.

“Sam, who is a music graduate, even realised a dream by performing Ernie’s hit Whisper live on stage with him here last year.

“They have kept in touch and he has now agreed to come back even though he is only performing in London and South Shields, New York and Nashville during his current tour but we are thrilled and are looking forward to another great evening, which will include a Valentines supper. It should be a great night and tickets are already selling well.”

Halter, who started writing his own songs when he was 16, has since recorded seven albums and is influenced by artists such as Beatles, Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder.

He has shared the studio and stage with the likes of Jason Mraz, Lady Antebellum, Neil Young, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber, who made a cover of his original song ‘Come Home to Me’.

He will be accompanied on stage by Tony Lucca an American singer, songwriter, producer and sometime actor who is making his first visit to the UK.

Starting life on the Mickey Mouse Club, which launched the careers of stars such Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake, with whom he is friends, he is now a full time musician and has toured with a multitude of acts including Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson.

He was the second runner-up on the 2012 series of the American reality television singing competition talent show The Voice, broadcast on NBC.
