The line up for the band with Nick Malcolm will be: Ollie Brice – bass, Alex Roth – guitar and Ric Yarborough on drums.
Nick Malcolm Quartet play original music on the frontier of structure and free improvisation. They create beauty and surprise by merging and deconstructing rhythmic cycles, timbral dimensions and melody in unexpected ways, resulting in interactive, intense and thrilling performances.
Having made a big impression at The Vortex and Manchester and Ealing Jazz Festivals in summer 2011, they completed a Jazz Services supported tour of the UK in June 2012 which marked the release of their first album, ‘Glimmers’, on FMR records.
Last Autumn the quartet recorded a gig at The Vortex for broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s ’Jazz on 3’ earlier this year . The quartet are now about to release their next cd ‘Beyond These Voices’, on Green Eyes Records with linear notes by Liam Noble. They begin a national tour supported by Jazz Services towards the end of May.
