The Hive in Shrewsbury is currently in full swing of preparations for the fourth annual event, taking place on Monday May 5 – less than a fortnight away!
The aim of the Hive’s street festival is to provide a fun yet free day for families and people of all ages to enjoy. Attractions this year will include the return of the Maypole, performances from young emerging bands, Henna, a DJ, various stalls and trade-stands – plus interactive sessions with organisations such as Shropshire Wildlife Trust and Cycle Shrewsbury.
Craft activities will include sessions for young children. Refreshments will be provided by the team from neighbouring Eat-Up of Milk Street – and people will also benefit from the chance to participate in face-painting, beauty treatments and much more. There will even be a couple of classic vehicles joining the event this year!
Last year’s event saw over 28 local businesses and organisations come on-board to support the day and bosses at the Hive are pleased to report an even better level of interest this year. The street festival will take place on the first May bank-holiday between 2pm and 6pm – with the event happening on Belmont, SY1 1TE.
Support and those involved in the event, include; Severnside Housing, Wace Morgan solicitors, Eat-Up, White Stuff Foundation, EAST clothing, Jaguar Public Relations, Whittingham Riddell and Girl Friday Web and Home Services. Also supporting the day are; Shrewsbury Town Centre Residents Association, Salop Medical Services, Battlefield Printing Group, Jim Hawkins Ltd, SLC Solicitors, Hennacat, Outback 2 Basics, Iddy’s Ices and Bright Owls language school amongst others.
Habib Malik-Mansell of the Hive said “We were really lucky with the weather last year – and hope for the same again this coming May. The street festival continues to seemingly capture the hearts of local people with a bumper turnout each-time. Whilst it may sound a cliche, we always want each year to be bigger and better than the last!” He added “It is now just days away and we simply can’t wait to host the fourth street festival!”
