Lead organisers Hattie Warner and Poppy Beckett, both aged 17, are currently putting into place the final touches to what promises to be a hugely entertaining evening for audience and participants alike.
“We are hoping to raise lots of awareness and money for Save the Children whilst creating a fabulous night of fashion that also helps to support local businesses and boutiques.”
“We’re thrilled with the wonderful response we’ve had from local shops. We’re really looking forward to showing off some gorgeous evening wear from wedding dress designer Hayley J, and some stunning clothes from Pockets, House of Fraser and Templeton Jones. We’re also delighted to be modelling vintage outfits from Street Vintage Clothing, which has recently opened in the Parade, Shrewsbury from E.A. Jones Vintage on St John’s Hill and from Maggie Mae’s Vintage on Dogpole.”
“We’ve also been given some fabulous raffle prizes and we’re also extremely grateful to House of Fraser for their help with make-up. Guests will also be able to browse some wonderful scarves and accessories from Fabazaar. ”
Hattie and Poppy have lined up 13 of their fellow students – boys and girls – to model the outfits. Students will also be providing musical entertainment during the interval, while others will be busy behind the scenes, building the catwalk and controlling the sound and lighting.
Adding an extra glamorous sparkle to the event, Hattie and Poppy are delighted that the evening will be compered by a real pro from the world of modelling and fashion – Suzanne Younger, Shropshire’s very own Miss United Kingdom 1989, who now runs a highly successful fashion business based in Oswestry, ‘Fabulous Fashion Shows’.
The students of Shrewsbury School hope to raise more than £2,000 for Save the Children. Janet Wenlock, who works for the Shropshire branch of Save the Children is thrilled: “Save the Children is particularly honoured that we’ve been chosen by this group of young people, who are helping save the lives of other children and young people by supporting us with such a wonderful event.”
