This month sees renowned Indian Kathak dancer Sonia Sabri return to Shropshire with her new show, ‘Ekalya.’
‘Ekalya’ (meaning ‘solo’ or ‘the one’) is a beautifully intimate crafting of dance and live music. Kathak is one of the most exhilarating dance experiences to be had: an astounding display of precise footwork, eloquent gesture, rapid turns and intricate rhythms. Alongside Sonia’s dancing, this stunning production features evocative live music from tabla maestro Ustad Sarvar Sabri.
Sonia Sabri is a great communicator who loves sharing her skill and passion for her own dance traditions with the audience. So even if you know nothing about Indian dance, you will soon be engaged and enthralled by her delightful personality and beautiful dancing.
