Hundreds of people from across the Midlands are expected to gather together at the West Mid Showground in Berwick Road for picnics, drinks and a patriotic night with the Shrewsbury Light Orchestra on Saturday June 30th.
Visitors can expect renditions of rousing classical anthems such as ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ and ‘Jerusalem’, along with popular film and TV hits performed by the orchestra and their guest soprano and baritone singers.
The Shrewsbury showground will be among many filled with music and big bangs in the year of the Diamond Jubilee and this performance will take place on a giant outdoor stage culminating in a fireworks finale to accompany the orchestra.
Organiser Neil English, of Event Developments Ltd, said: “Shrewsbury Light Orchestra performed at this event last year, and we were inundated with requests for them to return.
“Everybody was really impressed with the professionalism of the orchestra, and I’m sure this event will be even more magical as the orchestra perform patriotic songs in the Diamond Jubilee year.â€
Visitors are welcome to bring picnics, plus outdoor tables and chairs, plus a bar and food will also be available on-site.
Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the gate, and accompanied under 14’s go free. Car parking is also free.
Gates open from 7pm for picnics and drinks and the show will kick-off at 8pm.
The Last Night of the Proms concert is part of the annual Summer concerts at Shrewsbury Showground organised by Event Developments Ltd.
