A Shropshire business delivering hands-on survival and bushcraft experiences located on the Bradford Estates is preparing to grow as it launches two new outdoor immersive workshops for adults.

Established in 2014 by Dan and Naomi Walmsley, Outback 2 Basics run Stone Age living and bushcraft workshops on 10 acres of Bradford Estates woodland at the White Sitch, near Shifnal.
Outback 2 Basics is now running two new workshops, Men 2 Be and Crafty Women, designed to equip participants. with simple bushcraft skills while providing a space to reconnect with nature, build confidence, and take time to relax and recharge.
Men 2 Be is a weekend experience that empowers men through hands-on outdoor skills and shared experiences. With no expectations, this is a space for men to gather, tell stories, and connect while learning skills like fire-lighting and shelter building.
Crafty Women offers a welcoming environment for women to explore traditional skills such as foraging and bushcraft in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Naomi Walmsley said: “Men 2 Be and Crafty Women are fantastic opportunities for men and women to take a step back, immerse themselves in nature, and enjoy the simple things—most importantly, to have fun.”
With more than 20 years of teaching experience, Dan and Naomi began their journey spending four months in Washington, USA, living off the land and mastering their primitive skills followed by an opportunity to live off-grid in a tribe in Bulgaria as part of a Channel 4 documentary called ‘Surviving the Stone Age’.
These experiences inspired the couple to deliver Stone Age living workshops to primary school children aged 7 and 8. The outdoor sessions, held at their site at the White Sitch encourage pupils to dress up, explore Stone Age artifacts and take part in den building and toolmaking workshops.
Dan Walmsley added: “We are beyond grateful for the support from Bradford Estates. We love our location at the White Sitch and we believe it is one of our luckiest breaks.”
Bradford Estates property director Chris Hodson said: “Dan and Naomi have established a fantastic business that not only brings learning to life for young people but the new workshops provide an opportunity for men and women to recharge, connect and learn new skills.”
