Bridgnorth Youth Club helped by local business

A youth club which has had to move venues due to the closure of a council building has been helped in its “hour of need” by a Bridgnorth business.

Bridgnorth Youth Club, run by the charity SYA – All About Youth, was previously held at the Innage Lane youth centre but needed a new home after Shropshire Council closed the building.

Staff at SYA acted quickly to secure a new venue but were in desperate need of somewhere to store the club’s equipment which could no longer be kept in the youth centre.

Enter the team at CHC Waste Facilities, who heard about the youth club’s plight and offered space at their new building where the equipment could be safely stored until the club moves into its new venue.

Vanessa Postle, SYA area manager, said the offer of help was hugely appreciated.

She said: “The closure of Innage Lane youth centre was quite sudden and meant we had to urgently find a new home for Bridgnorth Youth Club.

“We are pleased to be using St James’ Church Hall from November 18, which will be our venue for the foreseeable future.

“However, we had a gap of a few weeks when we had to be out of Innage Lane and had nowhere for our equipment to go, which was a major problem.

“We have quite a lot of items, such as games and play equipment, and we are absolutely delighted that CHC Waste Facilities have allowed us to use their building as temporary storage.

“It really was our hour of need and we are tremendously grateful.”

Sam Campkin, of CHC Waste Facilities, who have just moved into Bridgnorth, said they were happy to help.

He said: “CHC Waste Facilities Ltd are excited to announce our arrival in the Bridgnorth area and hope to establish our electrical reuse and recycling business here.

“We are eager to start engaging and contributing positively within the community and are so pleased that we can support SYA at their time of need.

“We look forward to building further relationships, supporting initiatives, and participating in future local events.”
