An apprenticeship in the healthcare industry has been just the tonic for Telford College student Chloe Gray.
The 18-year-old, from Shrewsbury, is currently completing a level two business administration qualification based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Working for the Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust, Chloe’s main duties include preparing and publishing job vacancy advertisements, chasing up applicants, and guiding them through the recruitment process.
She is based in the department responsible for the non-medical side of the Trust, recruiting candidates for a wide range of positions, from entry level jobs up to director level.
“My apprenticeship has given me experience in the workplace which suited me perfectly as I am a practical learner and I enjoy being active and busy,” said Chloe.
“If you’re a practical person and enjoy being in a working environment, I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship. I’m now hoping to progress on to level three to prepare for a career working in recruitment or human resources.
“The process of securing my apprenticeship was really straight forward – in fact, this is the only one I applied for.
“I can’t thank the recruitment team at Telford College enough – they were fantastic and prepared me well for my interview. They were so supportive all the way through the process.”
Assessor trainer at the college, Janna Reynolds, said: “Chloe is a great student who is really conscientious and hard working.
“She has continued to be dedicated to her course all through the coronavirus lockdown, and has adapted well to different working practices.
“Chloe is not afraid to ask for help and is keen to progress and do well in her apprenticeship.
“Chloe fits in well with the team at SaTH and with her great communication skills, positive attitude and strong work ethic, I am confident she will do well in her chosen career.”
