Shifnal salon to represent the UK at international hairdressing awards

Shifnal-based Ashley Gamble is fast making its name as one of the most successful salons in British hairdressing, with a host of award wins at some of the most prestigious events in the industry.

Now, the Shropshire salon is set to make waves on an international scale as they head to Washington DC for America’s biggest hairdressing awards.

Salon owner Ashley has finalised in an unprecedented five categories at the Behind The Chair One Shot Awards – one of the industry’s most acclaimed competitions, with more than 311,000 entries.

Ashley was chosen as a finalist in five categories: Hair Colour Collection, Avant-Garde Collection, Haircut Shot, Creative Hair Colour Shot and Avant Garde Shot. This puts Ashley at the top of the rankings for UK stylists in the international competition – and with 30 categories up for grabs in total, his work is represented in one out of six!

The One Shot Awards were launched in 2015 and have fast become one of the most acclaimed competitions in international hairdressing. Entrants are chosen on the strength of their hairdressing skills alone, and with hundreds of thousands of hairdressers from across the globe entering, even finalising is a remarkable achievement.

The grand finals take place in August at the National Harbor in Maryland, just south of Washington DC, at a glittering event attended by the very best in industry talent from across the globe.

“It’s a huge honour to represent the UK at this prestigious awards,” says Ashley. “And we’re sincerely hoping that we can bring home the trophy. International events like this don’t just put us on the map, they also showcase the wealth of hairdressing talent in here in the UK – and prove that local, independent salons, like ours, can make just as much of an impact as those in London. We can’t wait to go and fly the flag for British hairdressing!”
