Telford Business Board is calling on prominent businessmen and women to join as sector champions, becoming the voice of their industry within the area.

The board meets six times a year to discuss the most important issues affecting firms within Telford and Wrekin, acts as a bridge between the private and public sectors, and champions initiatives which support businesses in the region.

Chair Paul Hinkins, a serial entrepreneur now in his second term at the helm of the board, said Telford Business Board had organised a number of hugely successful events in 2018 ranging from a meeting with the chairman of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, a Skills Round Table, and a meeting with Secretary of State for Justice, David Gauke MP.

Paul said: “We’d like to build further on that success in the coming year with the appointment of some new faces to the board – our sector champions ensure the interests of those working within their specific industry are heard where and when it matters most.

“Becoming a board member gives you, and your sector, the chance to be heard on important issues facing the Telford and Wrekin economy, to shape decisions which are taken at both a local and national level, and to put forward ideas about how business in the area can continue to grow and expand.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for people who care about the future of the region; there are so many successful, innovative and dynamic companies within Telford and Wrekin across a huge range of sectors, so we’re looking forward to welcoming more representative of those businesses on to the board.”

The deadline for applications is 8th March and anyone interested can apply via telford-businessboard@outlook.com.
