A Shropshire company has received an award for its work to support a county consortium that saves thousands of pounds for GP practices and businesses across the UK.
J&PR, based in Wellington, received the Support to Caradoc Award at a ceremony held at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow on June 30.
The public relations consultancy works with Caradoc Medical Services, a not-for-profit buying consortium which represents more than 25,000 members including GP surgeries, care homes, osteopaths, massage therapists, dentists, veterinary practices and other small businesses.
It was initially set up to negotiate better buying terms for Shropshire’s Out Of Hours service Shropdoc but has since grown into a national buying consortium with more than 100 suppliers.
With the NHS facing a very challenging financial situation, Caradoc works to help drive prices down for GP practices, with any surplus generated invested in health initiatives up and down the country.

“In 2016 we have been working alongside Caradoc to produce a YouTube channel and blog that will benefit the suppliers of the consortium as well as the members and this has been a really interesting project for us.
“We look forward to a long future as an approved supplier of Caradoc and its members and congratulate the consortium on another successful year as it goes from strength to strength.”
The evening also proved a winner for charity as those who attended the event raised £1,500 for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Midlands Air Ambulance is the charity responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving the communities of six Midlands counties. This means it is the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK. Since 1991 it has responded to an average of 2,000 calls per year.
Other winners at the 2016 awards included London-based Lockton, the world’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage firm, York-based firm Practice Supplies and Chester-based Power Solutions.
Peter Masters, business manager at Caradoc, based in Longbow Close, Shrewsbury, said the awards were a great success.
“It was a pleasure to see the award winners recognised for their efforts over the past year,” he added.
“Caradoc is going from strength to strength and we are proud to have built up such successful relationships with these companies as we strive for continued expansion and growth.”
