The 2016 Shropshire Business Awards have been officially launched at a reception hosted by Rybrook BMW in Shrewsbury.

Organised by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, the annual awards showcase the many and varied products and services available in Shropshire, highlighted with a glitzy awards ceremony to be held at the International Centre in Telford on Friday June 24th.

Chamber chief executive Richard Sheehan welcomed sponsors and guests to the launch event and also announced a new category for this year’s awards for Online Business of the Year.

Other categories include Business in the Community, Customer Service, Best Small Business, Travel & Tourism, Manufacturing Excellence, Technology, Best New Business, Apprenticeships, International Trade and the John Clayton Award for an outstanding individual contribution to life in Shropshire.

Mr Sheehan, said: “These Business Awards are a real celebration of business from across the whole county and with well over 600 people attending the ceremony it is true testimony to the value placed on the awards themselves.

“Having started as a humble concern in 2001, these awards which have now become one of the biggest in the Midlands are not only about success stories, but about business owners recognising the success that their employees bring and as such I would urge every Shropshire business to get involved.”

Chamber Patron, financial consultant and regular awards sponsor, Nick Jones, of Shrewsbury, added: “Having been a member of several judging teams over the years it is great to get out and meet such diverse people in their own environments and they should all be rightfully proud of the many weird and wonderful businesses that they run.

“The awards ceremony itself is an event not to be missed, not only for its glitz and excitement, but for social networking and creating both short and long term connections, together with starting many good business relationships.”
