Car dealership company Shukers has expanded even further in the county following a major refurbishment of a new site at Holyhead Road in Telford.

The company has invested £200,000 in the project which will see a sales centre for Subaru, Izuzu and SsangYong vehicles together with used cars of all marques.

The opening of this Telford branch, which has created 10 new jobs, follows on from the success of two sites opened recently at Vanguard Way in Shrewsbury for the three brands.

Tony Macera is dealer principal for the Subaru, Izuzu and SsangYong brands at Telford as well as the current Shrewsbury operation.

Vernon Hogg, managing director of Shukers Group, said: “Tony and I started working together in Telford in 1993 and 16 years ago we both went to our Battlefield site in Shrewsbury and have worked together as a successful partnership ever since.

“This is another very exciting development for Shukers and for these three growing brands in Shropshire and the West Midlands region, as SsangYong has seen its sales rise by over 300 per cent in the last year.

“Another building at the back of the Telford showrooms will open in November to provide a state-of-the-art after-sales, service and parts department, boasting the latest diagnostic technology equipment, not only for the three sales brands but also for all other makes of vehicles, further boosting our range of services.”

The latest opening brings Shukers’ presence in the county to five sites, including Land Rover outlets in Shrewsbury and at Ludlow, where a £4 million overhaul of the dealership is currently underway.

Employing over 80 people across the county, Shukers expects its group turnover to reach £50 million this year, compared to £44 million in 2014.

Mr Hogg, added: “We are keen to work within the community and have already formed partnerships with an equestrian centre, schools and health clubs as well as sponsoring Luke Towler, golf professional at Telford Q Hotels Golf and Country Club.”
