A Shrewsbury venue is reporting an impressive increase in its business event bookings.

Henry Tudor House, in Shrewsbury, has seen a 60 per cent year-on-year rise in the number of staff conferences and corporate events it is hosting.

“This year has been incredibly busy for business meetings, seminars and training events, with numbers increasing dramatically from 2014,” said Graham Jenkins, who runs Henry Tudor House, situated just off Wyle Cop, with wife Clare.

Before opening the bar, restaurant, music and business venue almost three years the couple both had many years’ experience in business in the West Midlands.

“We were both based in Birmingham – I ran a company with around 450 employees and regularly led staff events for my team – and Clare worked for the Royal Institute of British Architects and organising staff conferences was part of her role,” Graham said.

The medieval Henry Tudor House has a large second floor function room, with impressive vaulted ceiling, which can host between 30 and 100 people depending on the seating plan.

Clare added: “Feedback is showing that we are in an ideal town centre location for business meetings and small conferences. The top floor room has a stage area, superb acoustics and excellent lighting.

“We also have a private dining room for up to 14 people which is great for smaller meetings and of course our restaurant and bar team are on hand to provide first class refreshments.”
Shrewsbury chartered accountants Dyke Yaxley recently chose the venue for its staff conference.

Marketing manager Hazel Ruscoe commented: “Henry Tudor House proved to be perfect for our conference, attended by 90 delegates. The adaptable space meant we could host a drinks reception in a separate area to the conference room. Catering was first-class and the unique style and ambience of the building promoted a relaxed and productive atmosphere.

“Most of all, Graham and Clare were part of our team. Their corporate backgrounds meant they really understood what we wanted to achieve and they made light work of running the conference on the day, including managing the technical operations. They were efficient, friendly and accommodating.”
