Students from a Shropshire school will be sharing the secrets of their success with nearly 100 county business owners at an award ceremony next month.

Moreton Hall Sixth Form students have been invited to speak about Moreton Enterprises, the successful and unique multi-business venture, which has an average annual turnover of between £40,000 and £50,000.

Year five students will also give an insight into Mini Moreton Enterprises at the BCAs ceremony.

The ceremony will honour Shropshire businesses and charities which work hard to provide services and products which enrich the lives of the county’s children.

Karen Booth, Enterprise Coordinator says: “Moreton Enterprises shows that with hard work and determination, it’s never too early to learn about running a business.

“Moreton Enterprises has now been running for thirty years. The success of the scheme is evident and many ‘Old Moretonians’ who have participated have gone on to found their own business or become directors in others.

“Moreton Hall is incredibly proud of the enterprise and we are delighted to be invited to the Businesses for Children Awards to tell county business owners about it.”

The Lower Sixth students currently run six retail businesses as well as three service based businesses (Events Management, Marketing and Financial services). Each enterprise is run by a director and manager, with weekday assistants to manage the day-to-day running of each business.

In addition to Moreton Hall’s own enterprises (Tuck Box, Boost, Essentials, and Pulse) the team also oversees the running of a branch of Barclays bank and Ryman stationers.

Charlotte Davies, Businesses for Children Awards co-ordinator said: “The BCAs are a celebration of Shropshire businesses and the people behind them.

“Not only is Moreton Enterprises a successful business but also a prime example of promising young people working together. We’re looking forward to hearing from the students at the ceremony.”

The BCAs take place on March 14 at The Park Inn Hotel, Telford. There are 12 categories including Businesses for Babes, Educational Businesses for Under Fives and Children’s Charity 2015. For more information visit www.bcawards.co.uk
