Bridgnorth Aluminium backs Business Environment Network

Bridgnorth Aluminium

Bridgnorth Aluminium, is supporting a green initiative aimed at enhancing local business knowledge and reducing the environmental impact on the Shropshire Meres and Mosses.

The company, which produces high quality aluminium rolled products, was one of a handful of regionally-based organisations that helped to launch the Meres & Mosses Business Environment Network last year.

“Bridgnorth Aluminium has always strived for sustainable excellence, so it was important for us to support the initiative, educate local businesses, and share best practice tips to minimise environmental impact,” explained Neil Birt, Environmental Health & Safety Manager at Bridgnorth Aluminium.

“As a business, we’re dedicated to delivering environmental improvements to benefit both the local and wider landscape, funding a forthcoming Meres and Mosses event – for example – and planting our own meadow on-site to encourage wild flowers and insects to flourish.”

The Meres and Mosses is an area of north Shropshire, Cheshire, and Staffordshire formed over 10,000 years ago by the glacial processes of the last ice age. It contains the third largest raised lowland peat bog in Britain, and is home to significant wildlife such as Britain’s largest spider and the endangered white-faced darter dragonfly.

“The future holds many challenges for the younger generation and businesses have a special role to play in building a brighter and sustainable way of living. Bridgnorth Aluminium is proud to support a number of green projects and initiatives, and we very much look forward to supporting the Meres and Mosses Business Environment Network in the months and years ahead,” concluded Neil.
