Shropshire business woman uses film making passion to support charity

Kay Heald, runs a successful HR Consultancy based in Telford and wanted to find an interesting way of helping the local charity, Shrewsbury Ark (a drop-in centre for vulnerable and homeless people in the community). Kay says: “I didn’t just want to make a donation to Shrewsbury Ark, but also help them raise their profile within the local business community”.

After watching the award winning film version of Les Misérables, Kay came up with the idea of producing an animated video using some of the main Les Misérables characters. With the help of her children, they not only tell a short story and give some useful management tips, but they also introduce people to Shrewsbury Ark. Kay pledged to donate £1.00 for every YouTube view and exceeded her initial target of 100 views within just one week!

Tim Compton, from Shrewsbury Ark, commented: “As a small local charity, we rely on the support of the local community. We are very grateful to Kay for supporting us, not just financially, but also for letting more people know about what we do.”

Kay adds: “It’s not exactly an Oscar-winning film, but it does have an important message about treating people fairly and if it makes people smile, then that’s an added bonus!”.
