Martin, who has worked at Specsavers stores in Telford, Bridgnorth and Wellington, has decided to continue his career as a domiciliary optometrist across the border in Scotland.

Throughout his career, Martin has supported many local people with their career development, as well as providing excellent eye care to many customers. He also took part in numerous fundraising activities with his rowing team, the Wrekin Rowers, raising money over the years for multiple charities, including the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and the Severn Hospice.

In 2018, Martin stepped down from his role as store director at Specsavers Wellington, handing over the reins to current directors, Emma Davies and Satinder Sidhu, both of whom Martin had mentored since 2007.

Emma says: “I’m so proud to have worked alongside Martin for all of these years; he has taught both Satinder and I so much about successfully running the store. We’re looking forward to continuing the care for Martin’s loyal customers and we’re both dedicated to maintaining the high standard of clinical excellence and customer service that our Wellington store had become known for under Martin’s leadership. He has certainly left a legacy here and will be very much missed.”

Satinder adds: “Martin has provided excellent service throughout his career at Specsavers. I feel so privileged to have had him by my side all of those years, and it’s thanks to his leadership that this business has flourished over time. I’m pleased to have learnt so much from Martin.  Emma and I are in a strong position for the future, and we’ll continue to provide the excellent service that Martin has throughout his 30 years at Specsavers.”

Martin celebrated with the current team at Specsavers in Wellington with a leaving party and says, “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work alongside all of my colleagues throughout my time working at different Specsavers stores in the area.

“I’m really proud to have served my local community over the last three decades and can’t wait to start my next adventure in Scotland working on the domiciliary side of the business. Being able to offer eyecare to those who are unable to make it into a Specsavers store is a service I think is really vital and I can’t wait to get started. It will certainly be a change, but one I am really excited for.”
