One of the most exciting is The Secret Restaurant, a unique dining experience cloaked in mystery which showcases some of Shropshire’s best ingredients. With two exclusive events running during the Ludlow Food Festival, it’s a perfect way to extend your Festival experience.
After meeting at a pre-arranged rendezvous in Ludlow, guests will be whisked away 952 feet up into the Shropshire hills, and while exact details are still under wraps, participants will definitely be treated to spectacular views of the Long Mynd, Caer Caradoc and the Black Mountains.
Award-winning chef Simon Smith who runs the Secret Restaurant and bases his impromptu menus on quality ingredients will prepare dinner. Passionate about wild food, if Simon knows an especially tasty rare breed is due into the local butchers, or if the elderflowers look particularly inspiring, he will ring his local customers and invite them over. With all the incredible food available at the Festival, there’s no better time to take this culinary mystery tour.
Throughout the weekend, the theme of the Secret Restaurant will be ‘Shropshire Jewels’. Taking inspiration from the fruits of the season, the venue’s decor of reds and purples will reflect the menu while the real jewels in Shropshire’s culinary crown: wild fruits picked straight from the Shropshire hills, will be accompanied by the quality, local ingredients you may have already spotted at the Festival.
