Mark Bywater, 47, from Lyth Hill, raised the money for Urology
Trust Fund by taking part in the Chester Half Marathon in
May. He was keen to thank staff at the hospital for the quality
of care he received after undergoing an operation to remove
a kidney in September last year.
Mr Bywater, a keen runner, has made a full recovery after
his surgery and was pleased to have finished the run in just
1 hour 37 minutes.
He said: “I am really thankful for everything that they
did for me at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and everything
has gone well.
“I am a keen runner and wanted to show my appreciation
for all the hard work and care the staff at the hospital gave
me. I was chuffed with the time I completed the run in and
felt good that I was doing it for a good cause.
“I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me. In
the current financial climate I was pleased with how much
I managed to raise thanks to everyone’s generosity.”
Mr Naing Lynn, consultant urological surgeon at The Royal
Shrewsbury Hospital, said: “We are very grateful that
Mark decided to raise money for the Urology Trust Fund to
buy keyhole surgical instruments, and would like to thank
him for his efforts on behalf of the Trust.”
Mr Bywater presented the cheque to staff at the Royal Shrewsbury
Hospital last week.
