Val Brown who has been a volunteer since 1989 is the driving force behind the group and has been organising walks at Attingham Park since 2000. It will take place on Sunday 17 September.
Val Brown volunteer for Alzheimer’s Society said: “I started volunteering for the Alzheimer’s Society in 1989 and was involved in the first fundraising group when we had our first A.G.M. We raised £4009 and were thanked by Harry Clayton who was the Director of Fundraising at the time.
“In the 1990s we started our Memory Walks in Telford and then in Shropshire since 2000 we have held them at Attingham Park. The walks have been fantastic for people with dementia, families and friends who have joined us over the years it’s a relaxing day with fun, refreshments and music. I have been involved every year and enjoy the atmosphere and meeting everyone, and looking forward to the next one.”
If you would like to get involved with the walk please register beforehand at www.memorywalk2017.eventbrite.co.uk or call Val on 07772 798347. Emma Dowler, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society said: “Thanks to Val and our wonderful volunteers in Shropshire. We couldn’t do without your amazing support. Our memory walks are very special to us and they not only help to raise vital funds to sustain local services, research and campaigning but also are an opportunity for all the family to have a day out in a fabulous location.”
