A thriving Shropshire business group is on the move for its next meeting – and planning to expand over the next year.

Whitchurch Collaborative Networking is holding its next meeting at the town’s Hill Valley Hotel, the first time the not-for-profit group has used the venue in its two-year history.

The group – which generally meets at the Dodington Lodge in Whitchurch – was invited to try out Hill Valley for the October 5 event by the hotel’s management and jumped at the chance.

Shropshire journalist and media expert Jon Simcock – who runs BrightstonePR in Shrewsbury with colleague Sarah Hart – will talk about the benefits of PR for businesses at the 10am event, which will be followed by lunch.

Group spokeswoman Teresa Jones said the group had brought together more than 200 businesses of all descriptions from across north Shropshire and South Cheshire since its launch and had ambitious plans for the next 12 months.

“We launched as a free networking group with the aim of breaking down barriers for businesses across the region. Our plan over the next 12 months is to bring the best advice, speakers and training to our members whilst retaining the friendliness and informality which has made us so successful.

“We are delighted to be staging the next event at Hill Valley, which plays such an important role in the life of the town, and would love to welcome new businesses to what should be an excellent morning.”

The group was drawing up a schedule of high-quality speakers for the next year and was also considering new events to reach out to still more businesses.

“We have generated tens of thousands of pounds of business for our members since we launched and feel this is only the tip of the iceberg,” Teresa said.

Lunch at the October 5 meeting will cost £7.50. More details of the group can be found at www.collaborativenetworking.co.uk or Teresa can be contacted at teresa@compassla.com
