GWR Fasteners distributes a wide range of high tensile, stainless, and aluminium fasteners and also threaded bar to customers around the world. Mr Davies took great interest in understanding the innovative process which the winning company have developed in colouring stainless steel fasteners. GWR Colourfast is a unique product in the fasteners market.
Mr Gary Robinson, the Managing Director of GWR Fasteners, was delighted to meet with Mr Davies. During the visit, discussions ensued regarding how entrepreneurial businesses, such as this, succeed in this current economic climate. “It takes ambition and grit to drive success and overcome the hurdles†said Mr Robinson “I started this business three years ago and despite many attempts to gain additional funding either from the banks or by way of Government grants, there have been numerous obstacles along the way. Despite those obstacles, my business has experienced 100% growth year on year. David Cameron has remarked in the past about investment in the British manufacturing industry but we have not been able to gain any additional financial support. This does not deter us however. We will work hard to ensure our company continues to thrive which will ultimately benefit the local and the national economy.â€
Mr Davies was sympathetic to Mr Robinson’s views and impressed with his motivation to drive the company to success. The MP added “I am very proud of the excellent small businesses we have here in Montgomeryshire. Small firms like GWR Fasteners are the backbone of the British economy and it is only with their contribution that Britain can break out of recession. I intend to spend much more time travelling around the constituency and listening to the voices and concerns of small business owners.â€
